Senior Underwriter – ABL/Business Finance
We’re currently recruiting for 2 Senior ABL Underwriters to join a team within the Business Finance.
We’re looking for experienced commercial lenders with experience Underwriting within; Invoice Discounting, Inventory, P&M, Property, Cash Flow and Senior Secured Debt Facilities.
In this role you will provide underwriting/credit support and guidance in the structuring, approving and closing of new to Bank business.

Duties & Responsibilities
*Analyse risk at an early stage and assess the suitability of a transaction Represent 1st Line underwriting at Group Credit Committee articulating the reasons for support and dealing with questions from Group Credit as appropriate.
*Act as a risk “sounding board” for the Origination team and guide on the suitability and structure of new business opportunities as they arise.
* Consider potential solutions to issues balancing risk and commercial judgement such that proposals are supported within the Bank’s stated Credit appetite
*As appropriate, support originations in their on-going negotiations in order to secure acceptance of a mutually acceptable solution. This may require on-site visits throughout the UK
*Work with Origination to finalise the Credit Committee application in a timely manner
*Underwriting in accordance with approved mandates and mindful of Credit/Compliance Policy Guidelines
*Support Regional Business Centres with the management of Portfolio clients through ad-hoc requests and collegiate Portfolio reviews.
Educated to degree level or above
Accountancy qualification a distinct advantage.
*A proven track record in risk management with experience in an ABL lending environment.
*A comprehensive understanding of receivables financing and asset based lending products.
*A commercial awareness with the ability to quickly identify specific key factors across a range of facilities and funding structures.
*Experience of leading deal discussions with senior stakeholders Experience of participating in ad-hoc projects and balancing conflicts of time
*Knowledge of underlying Compliance/Regulatory issues and applying bank-wide policies to all transactions/projects being worked on
*Ability to negotiate ABL legal documentation
*Solid understanding of ABL receivables survey and asset appraisals
