Salary:
The overall objective of the PA role is to work closely with Senior Manager to maximise his efficiency (i.e. getting more done in less time) and his effectiveness (i.e. making sure the things that are important get done).
In order to do this the individual in the PA role needs to excel at the following key activities:
1. Communications gatekeeper: be able to prioritise all incoming communications – be they email, telephone, letter or other – ensuring that either DP responds in a timely manner, the message is passed to a Direct Report to deal with or the message is responded to directly by the PA.
2. Diary management: be able to prioritise and manage requests for Mananger's time such that he can make the most effective use of the available working time in the day.
3. Communications production: be able to produce communications from the manager be they from written notes or dictation, and ensure they are sent in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Presentation production: be able to produce PowerPoint and other “packs”, based on drafts, in a standard format and in a timely and accurate manner.
5. Travel management: be able to organise DP’s travel plans in the most efficient way – minimising the time taken out of the working day.
6. Departmental ambassador: be able to act as an “ambassador” , presenting a relaxed, professional persona in informal communications and discussions in the office environment.

Key skills and attributes required
In order to excel at the PA role the following skills and attributes need to be demonstrated on a consistent basis:
Technical skills
1. Shorthand – 100 words per minute
2. PowerPoint – excellent knowledge of the package
3. Word – good working knowledge of the package
4. Excel – good working knowledge of the package
5. Microsoft outlook or similar – good working knowledge of the package
Attitude/style
6. Attention to detail – excellent attention to detail and naturally focused on getting everything “right” first time: almost obsessive about getting the detail right
7. Flexibility – ability to be flexible in working hours and in workload undertaken
8. Communications – a natural communicator comfortable interfacing with all levels in an organisation
9. Positive mental attitude – a persistence and ability to keep going when things are tough!
